The primary objective of the core module CAP102 is to equip the trainee teachers with sufficient content knowledge in one of the major sub-field of physical sciences that is "Mechanics of Particles and Waves (with Optics)" so that they are confident in teaching the physical science section of the primary science curriculum. I will be dealing with Optics portion of CAP102. This part of the course will not only provide the strong foundation in optical science to trainee teachers but also equip them with innovative approaches including the integration of IT in teaching of optics.

The online course material is provided to help the candidate to prepare himself in the advance for the forthcoming lecture. It will also help the candidate to judge the depth to which a particular topic will be dealt in the corresponding class-room lecture. A list of selected reading references is provided along with so that the candidates can improve upon the online course content by themselves using the exhaustive reading material provided in these references.
